Secret Project revealed…

June 25, 2012

Well I have been working hard on a secret project for a few weeks now…

It was coming up to my Aunties birthday and I really wanted to make her something different. I suddenly had an epiphany when my mum visited. My mum has recently bought an IPAD and had purchased an expensive cover to go on it, the same one that my aunt had. I noticed that my mum’s cover was already scratched. I know that you will probably be thinking ‘well that’s what a cover is for, to protect the IPAD and take all the knocks’.

After speaking to my mum I realised that the majority of the damage was occurring when my mum put the IPAD in her bag, pens and other bits in her bag were scratching it.

At that moment I decided to make a ‘IPAD Cover’ cover.

I knew that my Auntie put her pad in her bag sometimes, so I thought it would be a useful present.

I started by making a chain of 90 and then joined the chain to make a round. I then crochet dc in each chain and carried on until I had done enough rounds to cover the IPAD. I then joined the bottom of the pouch with dc. At the top I created some braces by crocheting dc to the desired thickness, the braces were to be secured with two buttons.

The finished pouch looked like this…

I then got to work embellishing the pouch by making lots of little flowers and leaves…

And the final result was as follows… ready for the big reveal of the secret project?

An IPAD Cover…

Well its my Aunties birthday today… HAPPY BIRTHDAY. I definitely think she liked it :-). I find that it is always nicer to make something and give it as a gift, it gives me so much pleasure.

Lovely, might have to do one for my iPad, it’s getting embarrassing having it in a scruffy bit of felted jumper sleeve!

I love it – so bright and colourful. Much better than the usual boring covers. I am sure she will be delighted.
